Takanabe Ninomaru

Takanabe Historical Museum, established in 1986, was reimagined to address declining visitor engagement due to outdated exhibits. The redesign embraced JIN, the philosophy of benevolence, transforming it into a cultural and educational hub fostering civic pride. Through visual storytelling and spatial design, the renewal introduced thematic curation, immersive exhibitions, and layered acrylic panels symbolizing historical continuity. Renamed Ninomaru History Museum, it now serves as an interactive space where heritage, education, and community connect.

AI Sealer

The AI Sealer project merges traditional Chinese seal carving with intelligent manufacturing. This design enables users to customize seals via a three step process: text input, font selection, and layout adjustment. Seal designs are certifiable as NFTs. Beyond digital use, AI Sealer extends to physical creation. A carving machine produces tangible seals, and digital designs apply to items like tote bags and electronics.

Transition

The exhibition updates the 1400 year tradition of Japanese flower arrangement, Ikebana, for contemporary spaces. It forms an environment where visitors experience floral art through multiple senses. The open layout without walls allows visitors to walk freely and view installations from various angles, replacing traditional frontal observation. Natural sunlight and responsive lighting shift throughout the day, causing the space and the living flowers to change continuously. The design turns flower viewing into an active and dynamic process.

Box Factory

This Zero Energy, low carbon project has operational data that confirms its actual performance. It is an all electric building that relies on onsite solar to meet its energy needs, with heat pumps providing heating and cooling. Careful siting and form work as hard as the systems, with the building oriented to local wind patterns and sun angles. Box Factory integrates climate resilience, innovation, and community impact through thoughtful design. During the 2022 Electra Fire, which burned 4,500 acres in Amador County, the project proved itself resilient and climate ready.

Floating House

The Floating House is located in the central valley of Costa Rica. The project is based on passive design strategies such as site specific positioning and the use of natural resources. Industrial building techniques are combined with locally harvested and regenerative construction materials. Ample roof overhangs protect the house from rainwater and solar impact. The Interior rooms merge with their adjacent exterior spaces, creating a unified and harmonic relationship among nature and the built environment. Terraced gardens and balconies provide spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.

Learning to Learn

Inspired by the Dalton Plan, the Learning to Learn Framework unites pedagogy, curriculum, space, and technology. It reimagines education through three strands: assignment a digital hub where students access and prepare core content; lesson shifts classroom time from content delivery to teacher led analysis, guided discussion, and collaborative application, and study student driven enquiry, supported by adaptive Learning Centres for quiet, semi collaborative and collaborative study.
